VERB PRASE, TENSES, AND SINGULAR & PLURAL

Verb phrase is a group of words that forms a unit simpler than a sentence. Unlike a sentence, or clause, a phrase does not contain both a subject and a finite (conjugated) verb. When building sentences, we use many types of phrases. This article focuses on verb phrases.

Example :

1.      I’m sitting

2.      I can sleep

3.      I’m playing basketball

4.      I will go to campus

5.      My hobby is listening music

TENSES

The simple present expresses events or situation that exist always, usually, habitually, they exist now, have existed in the past, and probably will exist in the future. Present tense use for daily activity and general truth.

Pattern ;

(+) S(singular) + V1 (s/es) + object / complement

(+) S(plural) + V1 + object / complement

(-) S(singular) + is + not + adj

(-) S(plural) + are + not + adj 

EXAMPLE :

1.      He wakes up at 06.00 o’clock

2.      I wake up at 07.00 o’clock

3.      I’m there every Saturday

4.      The sun rises from east

5.      I usually drink milk for breakfast

The simple past indicates that an activity or situation began and ended at a particullar time in the past. It uses to show past activity that has been done in the past.

Pattern ;

(+) S(singular/plural) + VERB II +Object/complement

(-) S(singular) + was + not + adj

(-) S (plural) + were + not + adj

Example :

1.      He went to Gunadarma yesterday

2.      I went to hongkong last year

3.      They went to Lombok last night

4.      We did not see him yesterday

5.      I was in raja ampat last week

The simple future explain the events that will happen in the future. It uses to predict something in the future plan.

Pattern :

(+) S(singular/plural) +WILL + VERB 1 + OBJECT

(+) S(singular/plural) + tobe + going to + V1 + object

(-) S (singular/plural) + wont + v1 + object

(-) S + tobe + not + going to + V1 + object

Example :

1.      I wil go to Bali tomorrow

2.      She will help you by three this afternoon

3.      We eill meet you tomorrow

4.      Dona will teach you english by the end of this month

5.      Grandmother will give you something if you come

The different between singular and plural is the singular noun is when we talk about just one person, animal, place or thing. And the plural noun is when we talk about two or more people, animals, place or things.

Example ;

·         Singular noun :

1.      She is a student in the gunadarma university

2.      My room is beautiful

·         Plural noun :

1.      My cars are rented for seven days

2.      I’m playing video games.

HELLOOOO

            Hello..my name is Ajeng Astika Febrianti, but you can call me Ajeng. I’m 23 years old. I live in Bogor. I study at Gunadarma University. I was graduated from Bogor Agricultural University. I took industry management. I am the eldest child in my familly. I have a younger brother. He is 8^th grader in Cibinong 3^rd Junior High School.

            I really love my younger brother. His name is Alfian Azhar Nugroho. He likes to play video games. He won taekwondo competition three months ago. He also plays badminton, and every evening he recites Quran. At night he does his homework. I usually help him doing his homework. If I’m not there, my father takes my place to teach him. On the weekend, he spends  his time gardening with my father. If he finish gardening, he likes to play at the internet café, but sometimes he go swimming together.

            Another man in my familly is my father. He is the leader in my family. He is very strict about rules. Eventhough he is very strict but he’s afraid of blood. He also afraid of doctor. He doesn’t like spicy food. His hobby is fishing, but he rarely catches fish. Howefer I love my father.

            I’m not the only woman in this family. My mother is the other woman. She always wakes up at 05.00 every morning. Her hobby is shopping on the weekend. She always puts the foods in the family room. That’s strange isn’t it? But do you know what is the most strange thing from her? She always busy counting the money in the counter and shop. Eventhough she’s so strange, I always cook for her when I’m at home. Howefer I really love my mother
